USB-C 2.0Multiport Dock
A compact 70 × 45 mm, 6-layer USB-C 2.0 multiport dock designed in Altium Designer — integrating an upstream USB-C interface, USB-A port, downstream USB-C data port, microSD card reader and Ethernet into a dense, manufacturable small-form-factor layout.
What was built
- 01
Designed the full schematic and 6-layer PCB layout for a compact USB-C 2.0 multiport dock, integrating a USB hub controller, USB-A port, downstream USB-C port, microSD reader and Ethernet interface.
- 02
Defined a 6-layer stackup with dedicated internal ground planes for stable signal return paths, then routed USB 2.0 D+/D− differential pairs with controlled routing rules and length-matching checks.
- 03
Designed power regulation and distribution for the 5V input, 3.3V main rail, core rails and per-port power switching, using copper pours and thick power routing for VBUS, 3.3V and ground.
- 04
Added ESD protection on USB data lines, VBUS lines and external connector interfaces, with ground stitching vias near connectors, ICs and high-speed signal areas.
- 05
Performed full DRC cleanup — resolving shorts, unrouted nets, width violations, polygon issues and power-plane connection errors — for a manufacturable, fabrication-ready layout.
